The Maserati Quattroporte

The Maserati Quattroporte is a luxury sedan that performs like a sports car. It's sleek lines and eye catching profile make you want to own the car. So what else is it about the Quattroporte that would make you part with your money?

The Maserati Quattroporte’s stylish looks are down to Pininfarina. Years ago there used to be a Ferrari Pininfarina. Such is the quality of this name. New technological features and revised aerodynamics have been combined to create a car that has become the flagship product from Maserati. The front end is dominated by the new grille with the traditional Trident logo in its centre. The grille’s convex vertical slats give the car an assertive poise. It's a similar approach to Aston Martin, who use a horizontal grille in the front of their cars. The front lights, like those at the rear, make use of LED know-how to give the Quattroporte an even more striking look.

The Quattroporte has electronically adjustable seats that can be set to fourteen different positions (including the seat back in four different ways) – should you ever need this many settings. The driver’s seat has three memory settings which are easy to operate. Owners can also opt for the front seat comfort pack that provides heating, ventilation and massage functions to enhance your driving experience. Similar facilities are available for rear seat passengers. There is a range of other equipment that is fitted as standard to the new Quattroporte, including a cooler compartment hidden inside the front armrest, two glass holders that tuck away into the rear armrest and an electronic blind for the rear window.

The Maserati Quattroporte S is fitted with a new and powerful 8 cylinder engine with a capacity of 4,691 cc. It develops 430 bhp which allows a top speed of 175 miles per hour and 0 – 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The technical solutions adopted make the Quattroporte S’s engine extremely reliable, quiet and also result in reduced friction. All this means lower fuel consumption for you the user and in these days of being environmentally aware, fuel efficiency is clearly a good thing.

The gearbox allows the driver the option of selecting a Low Grip or Sport button to modify the transmission to best suit the road conditions or to match the driving style. Low Grip mode uses traction control to enhance the cars safety on slippery or icy roads. Pressing the Sport button makes the transmission more aggressive and places the emphasis on performance.

The Skyhook system electronically controlled suspension smooths out the road conditions. Any bumps in the road’s surface are absorbed and comfort levels within the car remain constant as the system adapts to the driver’s style behind the wheel. The Skyhook software is exclusive to the Quattroporte S and offers the maximum level of comfort on the move. Sensors that detect movement on all four wheels and the body, instantly adjust the dampers to their optimum settingf or the road conditions. There are two different settings: Normal and Sport. In Normal mode, the ride is softer, favouring comfort like a family car. The driver can switch to Sport mode and the suspension will stiffen to allow the performance of the car to be brought out.

In summary the Quattroporte is a striking motor car. It's performance matches its looks. This is a high end motor car costing typically a $100000. However, you know that you are getting a quality motor car from a company that has a heritage spanning nine decades. The big question is how would you feel driving a Quattroporte?
